Getting ready to go on stage
Thoughts drifting away
Perhaps someone knew
What had happened that day
It all had happened so fast
driving home that night
and meeting that train
paralysed me with fright
Recalling sounds just like a crash
then all had gone black.
Surrounded by doctors
trying to explain about her back
Struck by a most horrible feeling
unable to move her feet
Eyes watery she asked
could she ever walk down the street
It had been against all odds
to get back on stage
Seemed so unreal
Like being let out of a cage
Feeling the scar across her chin
and entering the stage
dancing like never before
Need to let out all the rage
The audience was speechless
she danced like a star
Before she came on
the speaker told about the car
It never should have happened
had she drove alone
But missing a jump,
falling, made her break a bone
She woke up that morning
looking down at her feet
Dancing wasn't real
It had been
just a dream...
